business consultancy for: · Island Choice Project – Nominated Project Director for a registered charity (subject to the Charity Commission acceptance) to provide training for unemployed people on the Isle of Dogs. Responsible for the compilation and presentation of an SRB5 grant application. · Small Business Clients - Advising a number of small business clients on their hardware and software strategy. · New Horizons Publications Ltd. - Desktop publishing requirements for the production of a new magazine for the over 50's. · The Securities and Investments Board - Production of a Disaster Recovery methodology and proposal - Study into the outsourcing of security and Mail services. System. Project Managed the setting up of a Shared
Intelligence Service for all Financial Services Act regulators including the
Bank of England and the DTI. This involved negotiating with 24 regulatory
organisations to both identify their requirements and to convince them that they
should participate. The Intelligence System provided information to regulators
appertaining to the fitness and properness of individuals and companies wishing
to operate under the Financial Services Act. The project was delivered on time
and to budget using text-retrieval software fronted by Ingres. · Computer
Security. Formulated and administered computer
security policy. Presented findings to senior management and also gave induction
courses to staff regarding the importance of security procedures. · IT
Strategy. Formulated IT Strategy based on one PC
per desk using Windows front end, Novell network, Ingres development tools (Unix
operating system) and reducing in-house development. · Policy Advice. Advised SIB policy personnel on the effects of policies on the computer systems of firms operating in the financial services industry including meetings with such firms (computer, marketing and auditing staff). ·
Downsizing
to Unix. Evaluated the use of minicomputers
resulting in the installation of SUN Sparcservers running UNIX and Ingres
database software. This was a downsizing from a bureau mainframe saving SIB
£400,000 p.a. UNISYS

to 1987 Project
Manager.
Responsible for management of the design, development and delivery of a personal
computer based system communicating with a mainframe computer for the Department
of Agriculture Northern Ireland. This system has become more important as a
result of the BSE crisis. The
design and development of a personnel system for Coutts Bank. System delivered
on time and to budget. Senior

Headed up design teams for the following clients: Distributed
Systems Limited - Unit Trust Trading System; Rolls Royce & Associates -
Access Control and Time Recording System; Rugby Portland Cement - Production

Design Studies conforming to CCTA requirements for the: Welsh Office - House
Building statistics; Post Office - Parcels and Heavy Packages Transportation and
administration.
